Dr. David B. Bishop

Pastor

Pastor David received Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior in March of 1982 as a high school senior. He responded to God's call to ministry soon after and enrolled in Bible College. He met his wife, Beth, at New Orleans Baptist Seminary and proposed to her on the steps of the chapel. They were married in 1987.

After graduating seminary, Pastor David and Beth were appointed by the Home Mission Board, SBC, as Church Planter Apprentices to Salem, New Hampshire where their daughter, Lauren, was born. In 1994 God called the Bishops back to Mississippi so their daughter could know her grandparents. He served as pastor of churches in Mississippi from 1994 - 2022.

Pastor David's daughter, Lauren, and her husband, Daniel Barkley, moved to North Carolina in 2015 so he could attend Southeastern Baptist Seminary and she could attend the University of North Carolina. Both graduated and got good jobs in NC, creating a great distance between the family. When Lauren announced that she was expecting her first child, Pastor David and Beth felt led of the Lord to move to NC to be near their only grandchild. Pastor David and Beth are looking forward to many happy and fruitful years as pastor of First Baptist Church Eden.

Ruby Hinson

Organist

When entering our sanctuary you are most likely to meet a lady with the most beautiful bright blue eyes and a very endearing smile.  This would  be our church organist, Ruby.   Ruby Smith Hinson is such an amazing lady!  She started playing the organ at the young age of seventeen.

Ruby was one of four children. Her brother, Fred Smith, also attended First Baptist.  Ruby married James Hinson.  In addition to playing the organ, Ruby worked at First National Bank.  Though she and James did not have children, she certainly did love and adopt cats.  After moving to Stoneville, Ruby's love and compassion for animals, especially cats, continued to grow.

At 93 years young, Ruby Hinson's continued devotion to our Lord, her outstanding talent and generosity is and will be greatly respected by all!

Kim Frick

Pianist

Although a Californian by birth and a former resident of numerous military bases while growing up, ( thank you for your years of service Dad), I will always claim North Carolina as my home.  Currently, my husband and I reside on a horse farm.  Also, I am looking forward to completing an apprenticeship program in December 2023.  Upon completion I will receive an optician's license.
However, my true love is the piano.  Forty-eight years ago I started piano lessons and absolutely fell in love.  I am thankful and humbled that God allows me to enjoy His creation of music!  Serving as a pianist at First Baptist Church of Eden continues to be a great pleasure!
